I'd been living for nearly 6 months in a small town in the countryside about 4 hours north of Haerbin, living on rice, barbeque and cheap beer. To say I was hanging out for a western-food indulgence on a much anticipated visit to Haerbin would be understating somewhat.

I don't recall how any more I just remember arriving at Hamama's one cold morning and falling in love.  This was the "old" Hamama's, now just a footnote in history and nowhere near as nice as the "new" Hamama's. 

The service is always friendly (which makes up for it not always being speedy), the portions are generous, the quality is good and the taste is great. Crusty bread rolls, real cheese, and coffee at a reasonable price - with half priced refills.

The place can be "standing room only" at lunchtime - and the daily specials can go fast!

 It's a regular relaxing and refreshing spot for me and I recommend it to all my friends traveling to Haerbin.

Where is this in relation to the HIT Hotel and the China Construction Bank on Xidazhi Street?

Keep walking on Xidazhi Jie towards the HIT main entrance. At the BuyNow (not BestBuy!) computer market turn left down the main road, walk down one block to where you see the pedestrian overpass and you will see MuGong Jie about 50M in from the main road. Hamamas is the third shop down on the left.

When you say BestBuy computer market - do you actually mean BuyNow computer market?

It took me a while but I found the place thanks to your directions. I walked past the Buynow computer market, then turned left then right. Too bad it was closed before I got there
